I am saddened and worried by the fact that a person in a position such as Elon Musk is unable to see the potential of AI. Technologies that are as disruptive as AI have historically altered the face of markets and states literally redefining them.

The industrial revolution opened the door for the modern state before that nation-states were very different and much less centralized. With no professional armies or central institutions.

Do you honestly expect that we need to replicate the current processes of war, statehood and markets under AI?

I would expect a more natural approach would be the decentralization of centralized states and their functions such as armies and markets. Since many of the functions provided by the state can be easily decentralized using AI.

It would certainly be very questionable if the leading researchers and practitioners in AI, did not allow the applications of AI to go beyond state monitoring and control.
