I don't know the Founder of Juicero in any way but according to the media he left daily operations at the company in June (3 months before burning man) and stepped down from being CEO in October last year. Maybe Josh Constine should shut the fuck up given that he's never run a company in his life and has no idea what this guy's lived experience is like. He is basically using the excuse of "journalism" to be a judgemental asshole.
'While Evans handed over the CEO title to former Coca-Cola exec Jeff Dunn late last year, the company told TechCrunch “Evans is Juicero’s full time Founder and Chairman of the Board and very active within the company.'
So the entire story is based on some PR speak. Because "Founder and Chairman and very active" is PR speak for "resting and vesting."
>>And if you want energy, catch up on sleep, eat healthy, and plan a night out with friends — not a week.
This is dangerous. I know SV is obsessed with the idea of the workaholic CEO who hacks for 72 hours straight to keep the lights on, and in some cases its necessary, but it should absolutely not be the metric by which success is judged.
If you can't take a week off without things grinding to a halt you have not prepared adequately, and that's the whole story. Stop perpetuating the myth of the sleepless-startup-hero. Nobody should, or want to, aspire to working unhealthy numbers of hours.
