Ask HN: How to start getting influence on social media

I am a lazy Twitterer. I don't write very fluently. Unsurprisingly, my "social influence" is about zero.

Do you have some recommendations for books about how to manage a personal Twitter Account? On Writing better? On strategies to get and keep in touch with internet strangers?

Any tools you use?

What role do personal contacts (rather than online acquaintances) play in that context?

And, last but not least: What is your intention/profit from maintaining your online presence? Is it just fun? Or did you actually land a job/sell something/etc.?
