Ask HN: Google hasn't update the Android File Transfer app for Mac in 8 years

I recently got an Android phone with 128Gb capacity and I tried transferring stuff from my old phone onto it (about 60Gb) via the Android File Transfer app on my Mac however I've been coming across so many bugs. I.e. I noticed that the app fails if I transfer more than 4000+ files (possibly wrong variable size declaration?) or transferring certain folders that contains files with characters such as "." or "~" preceding it will crash the whole app. I could go on but those are my 2 biggest pet peeves.

Anyway, looking at the app fingerprint, I noticed that Google's last update to the app was in 2012 which was almost 8 years ago! I tried Googling around (no pun inteded) to see if there are other methods besides using the ADB shell but there doesn't seem to be any other official means of transferring files between Mac & Android. So the only logical conclusion is that it seems that Google has completely forsaken the Mac app and possibly sunset the team that worked on it.

Can anyone with any insights shed some light on this?
