Ask HN: What (libs, frameworks, etc) do you use to authenticate users on website

I've been using CMS's and frameworks for quite a time now, but i have not dealt with user authentication myself since the late 90ies early 2000s. My question is: What frameworks or libraries are out there, that offer a state of the art authentication method you can use in your web app?
