Ask HN: Would removal batteries in laptops help avoid the laptop ban?
The laptop ban is in the news frequently, is the batteries on the laptop the ONLY security issue? Will it be possible to avoid the laptop ban if I just hand-over the battery before boarding and get it back after landing? The thing of having to handover my laptop is a privacy risk. I don't see that issue with the battery.

[ 2.9 ms ] story [ 11.6 ms ] threadIf they're worried about the battery itself, well, it's still going to be on the plane. If they're worried about a bomb inside of your laptop, well, there are plenty of planes with electrical power outlets that could supply the needed power for ignition.
FWIW, you should be using FDE anyways (re: "privacy risk").
