I'll never understand the trend toward bigger screens as a "feature". The reason I got an HTC Incredible was the 3.7" 480x800 display. Perfectly sized for that resolution, in my opinion. Why would I want a phone thats almost an inch bigger?
Also not to be a curmudgeon, as the front facing camera doesn't /bother/ me or anything, but I /never/ want anyone to know that I'm /capable/ of video calls.
I have an EVO. I read tech books on it with Kindle for Android. If my screen were any smaller, the code samples (which are images and don't scale like the text) would be too small to read.
So for me, screen size is a feature. It opens up possibilities and has definitely increased my productivity on the device and my satisfaction with it.
Enso has spent the last few months continually claiming to be shipping their products despite a disheartening lack of actual customers claiming to have received their preordered products. Their products are precariously balanced between scam and vaporware status. A quick search for "enso zenpad scam" and "zenpad review" will show what I mean.
I have in my possession a ZenPad. It arrived 2 days ago. I ordered it like 8 months ago.
Figured it'd be a great android hacking device. (don't hack on your work phone kids).
It is a piece of garbage. Touch screen is barely working, and completely non functional. Battery takes longer to charge than it lasts. And the bloody thing is dog slow in spite of having a pretty beefy cpu.
The thing is stuck at Android 1.5. My first attempts at rooting it worked ( not a surprise there ), but getting a rom loader to work has been thwarted by the inability of the machine to reboot on command. Not to mention most of the roms produced are for very different devices.
Enso is rebranding SmIT gear ( with cheap stickers no less ), why are they fouling this up so badly?
Sorry to say, but they lie about the capabilities of the products all the time, make up excuses more often than they blog about anything else.
Not worth the investment. But hey, I like giving the little guys a chance. But if all you are doing is rebranding cheap chinese gear... you are destined to fail.
I ordered the original ZenPad, before learning that it was essentially a scam. After I placed the order (along with others, I'm sure), they delayed the shipment date by several weeks, putting it after the 45-day return limit for Paypal (they required payment via Paypal).
After discovering this, I complained to Paypal who promptly canceled my order and returned my money. Enso has repeatedly had problems with having their Paypal account restricted because Paypal considers them a scam.
Since then, Enso has sent out numerous emails whining about people accusing them of being a scam, citing such "evidence" as the fact that their Paypal accounts regularly get restricted, their website doesn't really work, nobody has ever seen any of their products in person, their alleged manufacturers claim never to have heard of them, etc. These complaint emails are invariably stuffed to the gills with misspellings and poor grammar, and each time they send one I received 22 copies of it.
So, while this hardware _looks_ kind of cool, I am not going to preorder it. And I won't buy anything from them until they actually manage to ship something.
