Ask HN: Part-Time Job Opportunities for Employed Tech Workers?

1 points by orky56 ↗ HN
In the past few years, high tech companies are providing more flexibility to employees. The new worker can choose where to work, when to work, and how to work. This often leads to higher productivity and thus completing required tasks with time, energy, and passion left to spare. This free resource leads to more fulfilling lives for hobbies, side projects, or other leisure. But what about greater financial freedom & success? The salary, bonus, and stock options are already set. The opportunity cost of not working those extra hours is zero since the work is already done.

This demographic makes significantly more per hour than any existing gig economy position (Uber/Lyft/Postmates) and doesn’t want the high turnover, variability, and upfront work involved with projects (Upwork) or freelance (Toptal). Instead, they want access to more regular positions (5-30 hours/week) that are as easy to apply to as any other job, often like the one they already have. Certain solutions do everything decently (Angellist) but don’t focus specifically on this group which has specific requirements/needs.

Is this a problem you identify with? If so, would you be interested in a potential solution such as a job board/weekly email/introduction service? Do you think existing solutions already address this problem? Appreciate any feedback as I and others I have talked to have run into this problem as well.
