So, this is sort of a sticky situation. First and foremost, death threats, and even threats of violence are never okay. Full stop.
For someone who supposedly doesn't work at EA, this sure was a long con. I wouldn't put it past EA to be cagey about associating with a twitter account that the author admitted seemed to say things EA would not want coming from an employee account.
Finally, a side note: This is no simple "Game Feature". This is psychological warfare to extract money from people and sell them on unregulated, virtual gambling, often including targeting children. These companies are indeed taking out patents on methods for how to push people over the edge and nudge them more towards being comfortable taking out their wallet just to have fun in video games. As a gamer, I find this a disgusting perversion of a hobby I've had since a child. Some of you may argue that they've done nothing illegal, but from a more innocent viewpoint, they are taking the most popular themes and IPs and holding them hostage, squeezing them just to pad the bottom line.
Gambling can become an addiction, and feeding addictions (for a profit no less) rubs me the wrong way. It should not be acceptable to rationalize hurting your fellow man just to make another dollar

Assuming they actually happened. If this individual was lying about being an EA employee, I wouldn't put it past them to have fabricated that claim as well.

True. Even that EA is not really a sane game developer. (i.e. fifa for switch, battlefront 2.. thats not cool...)
But still, there is no reason todo deat threads or threads of violence. The only thing, which people can do is just don't buy there games anymore. (People are sad, because that might never happen)
I doubt the claim was fabricated. There are dedicated groups of people who attach themselves to any controversy and send death threats all around just to cause a stir. And it works so well!

“Tapped In: How EA Combined The Simpsons and Video Gambling to Make $130 Million (and counting)” is a 10,000 word mini-book that attempts to explain how “freemium” games like The Simpsons: Tapped Out have more in common with video gambling than they do with traditional video games."

a simple fix for this is to walk away from the most popular themes and IP, because they just don't matter.
