Ask HN: Tips for using Facebook professionally?

I am in a really small town. I am going to public meetings. Facebook seems to be a big thing here for professional stuff. I am planning to clean up my Facebook page and try to use it to connect to stuff locally for professional purposes.

So I was wondering if anyone has experience using it that way and any tips or suggestions.
