Ask HN: What Ops/DevOps lessons have you learned this Thanksgiving weekend?
Did you have an operational emergency over the Big Weekend – infrastructure outage, user problems, service outage, etc.?
If so, what was it and what could your organization have done differently to avoid it?
Disclaimer: I’m a long-time DevOps guy starting up a side-project – NonStopOPS.io – designed to handle OPS data edge cases, i.e. times where you need a way to quickly process operational data for quick answers. I’m looking to understand what sort of issues people face on a day-to-day basis … ESPECIALLY those things that interfere with holiday weekends! (NB: We need beta testers!)
Fortunately for me, we had no emergencies where I worked … unfortunately for me, I live outside the US and so had no four-day weekend!
