Edit: Was just wondering why this would immediately end up on the top of the front page. It seemed more like the result of a voting ring than genuine HN interest in yet another TPB mirror. I know it's against the rules to comment on voting behavior, but this one stuck out and I was curious if I was missing something :)
Probably because ThePirateBay is blocked in many locations (at least in Spain) but luckily there is bunch of proxy-websites that are accessible. Problem is that they are often slow, filled with ads and generally have a shitty uptime.
Why are there so many TPB mirrors? I am pretty confused as to what happened to TPB after the takedown a few years ago, since then it seems to have fragmented into a dozen copycat sites. Is there still a legitimate TPB?
