Man grows pea plant inside lung (bbc.co.uk)
From the article: """A Massachusetts man who was rushed to hospital with a collapsed lung came home with an unusual diagnosis: a pea plant was growing in his lung."""
Very often, as a kid, I used to be apprehensive of the seeds I would swallow in. What if it sprouted in my stomach?
Later on, I deduced that our stomach is not a place for plants to grow. It consists of an acidic medium. I'm sure that it is devoid of Oxygen as well.
And now this news of a pea plant growing in lungs! Are our lungs a habitable place for seeds to sprout and grow? We see a constant source of oxygen. I guess that it won't grow "large" due to lack of sunlight.
It may be far-fetched but could this event be extended for a beneficial symbiosis between animals and plants?
