Ask HN: How to negotiate salary as freelancer in deep learning?

Dear all,

I am about to design a deep neural network for a small logistics company from Germany (about 10 employees).

It will be able to predict the best prices for courier deliveries the company mediates.

I don't have proof of experience, but I have references.

Now I have to negotiate my salary. I have never worked in this area before, therefore I am afraid I will not have a very strong position when I dont know what is a common price to ask for.

If somebody has experience here, it would help me to know if

1. I should ask for a hour-based salary or just name a price for the finished network (what is common?)

2. What hourly wage/price respectively is reasonable?
