>memo about why men are naturally better at computers than women

oh, boy

... I mean girl...I mean person...nevermind...
The problem with "eye for an eye" attitude is that everyone is blind in the end.
It doesn't matter if he is wrong or right. What matters is that Google does not practice "freedom of speech". He did not call to a violent action, he just expressed his opinion.
But Google is a private company and is not required to have freedom of speech are they?
"I don’t view it as hypocrisy to judge people by their personal qualities, rather than their background and appearance" nether does James Damore this was largely excatly the point Damore was trying to get across in his memo. I strongly encourage anyone who had not had the chance to read the full memo. I don't agree with all the analysis that is contained in it but the deliberate misrepresentations of what he said and the "logic" of what is contained in this article are far more damaging to our society then anything contained within the memo.

The lack of self-awareness in this piece is staggering. For the record, I don't consider myself right wing or left wing but to paint anyone who differs with yourself as a bigot is short-sighted. The very definition of a bigot includes someone with an intolerance of opinions that are different from your own.

> The new right feeds off this narrative of victimhood.

The left in the U.S. dug it's own grave this last election by pandering to victimhood culture. Everyone who disagreed with their opinion was labeled racist, sexist, etc. Victimhood has utterly polluted the left in the U.S. It should not be surprising when the right starts to co-opt this narrative.

> Liberals, for example, value “compassion”, whereas conservatives value “authority”.

It's amazing how the left fancies itself as anti-authority, yet turns to the nanny-state government and shaming to impose political correctness on everyone else. Instead of letting free markets sort out problems, there is endless insistence that we should turn to the government and new laws to impose equal outcome. How much authority we should implement is a valuable discussion, but trying to pretend the left is anti-authority is laughable.

> I discriminate against people who are right wing and conservative. I’m entirely happy to say so. I don’t view it as hypocrisy to judge people by their personal qualities, rather than their background and appearance. If people are bigots and bullies, I will judge them for that.

bigot (bĭgˈət)► n. One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

> It used to be conservatives who were more concerned with “character”. It is odd that the idea of decency and personal responsibility has now become the domain of progressives.

It used to be liberals were more concerned with judging people by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin but now prefer to group people into race, sex, sexual preference, and scream about inequality. The most important thing to the left is diversity of outward appearance like skin color rather than diversity of opinion.
