Ask HN: Which database do you use and why?

There are a plethora of databases in the market. Majority of Fortune 500 companies use Oracle. There are many companies that use Mysql / Postgres. I also heard stories of people using Mongo, Cassandra and more recently Firebase. I am really interested to know which database you/your company ended up using and how you arrived at the decision ?
