Ask HN: Why do blockchain urls die?
For example, even a simple picture sharing implementation of IPFS is down: ipfs.pics
What remains of it, http://66.172.27.106, is slow and buggy. The pictures often do not load at all, and this reduces confidence in ipfs itself.
I was also excited to hear about Counterparty's oracle and betting feature, not for gambling necessarily, but as an implementation of swarm intelligence. Then I saw that all the sites I could find for this are down.
The startup and ico sites often have typos.
What is going on here? Is this technology just THAT new? Is it harder than it seems to make polished websites? Conventional websites seem to have no problem. Same with applications. Non-blockchain open source software works far better, and I don't understand why it's so hard for blockchain developers to do better.
My store on openbazaar could never be found. (Openbazaar 2.0 is better, but still, IMO, not ready for primetime.)
Toshi dapps are primitive. They seem to run very slowly.
I could go on and on.
Why is this happening? What can be done about it? We need to do better.
