Ask HN: Anyone working remote in NZ for a US company – how do you handle taxes?

4 points by vosper ↗ HN
I'll be emigrating back to New Zealand shortly (NZ citizen, living and working in the US) and have an opportunity to work remote for the US-based company I'm currently at.

I know that Ask HN is no substitute for expert advice, and I have already talked to an accountant who suggested that either filing as an IR-56 person, or setting up a company, were probably the right ways to go.

I wanted to see if anyone was in the same boat, and if there were any gotchas or things I should know?
