Think of it as an opening bargaining position...the Art of the Deal if you will. Cuz right now we'll be lucky if even the most minuscule reform passes.

The US makes quite a lot of small-arms for other countries. Banning manufacture is not going to happen.

Treating semi-autos like NFA/GOPA weapons (eg. automatics), would be a start. Even Trump's suggestion to raise the minimum age is a good start.

By reframing the debate. Currently you have Democrats too scared to push real gun control because Hillary's assault rifle ban 20 years ago led to them losing control in congress. But a lot has happened since then and everyone - even gun owners, even Republicans - is fed up. Yet we still remain scared of the NRA.

Even some of my Conservative friends respond to the argument of banning ALL guns. It's clear and ballsy. They appreciate clear and ballsy.
