Ask HN: Advice on promoting launch pages to attract first users

Okay! I am about to build a website that I think has great potential, but instead of just jumping straight to building(the fun part!) it I want to first validate that other people want this too! I know most people just share it with their network but I don't have that kind of Twitter or Facebook followers.

HN please share how you promote your launch page to collect email address?
