Ask HN: Tips for coming up with company name

I'm looking to re-brand our company image and name. Essentially for about a year it's been a generic placeholder that we always meant to change, something like "XYZ Automation Solutions"

I'm looking for a meaningful (ideally 1 word) name. I have some themes and ideas related to what we do, or want to do, that I like. But holy crap everything's taken! I tend to agree heavily with PG that one should be able to get the startupname.com domain otherwise it's just not viable as a name these days.

Any tips and strategies for coming up with company names? Much appreciated, this is surprisingly non-trivial.
