A more accurate construction metaphor: I hire a teenager with ADHD and an energy drink addiction to build a minimum viable house by stacking cardboard boxes. The finished house looks beautiful as long as I don't try to live in it... or touch anything.

I decide to hire a second contractor to incrementally replace the cardboard boxes with wood and brick. Along the way I make numerous requests to redesign parts of the house and constantly complain about how long it is taking.

I expect to pay the second contractor a fraction of what I paid the first kid since their role doesn't require the same kind of creativity. This is perfectly reasonable since the house was already built and all I needed was a little hurricane proofing.
