I see this as a situation where the author is bothered by the reaction of internet strangers. It's a situation where another group has no power over you, other than the power you give them by caring what they think. In this case, I wonder if simply ignoring people whose M.O. is to try grind axes and not make the world better (as well as any such platform -- twitter) might be better. In short "don't feed the trolls."

Hell, I'm not on twitter [at all]. If people on twitter were all mad at me I wouldn't even know, and frankly I don't want to, because I'm not emotionally beholden to them.

On an unrelated note, I found her actual advice very solid.
