Ask HN: Uber,Facebook,etc Does corporate greed always triumph user's good?
For example:
Facebook keeps showing enticing, though all meaningless, videos from the web personalized to each one's weak spots and waste 100s of hours of people's time (so much for a social network), fully knowing that such a behavior is bad for the users long term. (Similar to drug addiction).
Uber pool will keep you wheeling farther and farther, around your locality just to pickup one more rider (until the car is filled to the maximum), maximizes Uber's revenue but wastes your time every single day.
Really disappointed to see how the need to increase profits quarter after quarter pushes these, once user friendly, companies to become horrible.
