Ask HN: VPNing to connect to the internet from China?

I am planning to spend this June living in my in-laws' apartment in Anhui province. I would like to work while I'm there. My job requires access to my company's Google GSuite apps, to our VPC in AWS, and to a few American social networks (twitter and instagram).

Has anyone here acheived a similar feat in the recent past? If so I assume you did it by subscribing to a commercial VPN service? Did you have any problems?

Any recommendations? Anything I should watch out for?
