Ask HN: Have you encountered non-interview alternatives to tech job hiring?

Basically any tech jobs that normally are filled through an interviewing process, but aren't in some case.

In my experience I have only seen non-interview hiring in MLM sales jobs, simply due to their high turnaround and recruiting process.

But have you found a hiring process that lacked an interview in other types of jobs? And how was the experience?
