Mendix – Opinions?

I am being asked to Evaluate the Mendix platform (https://www.mendix.com) to build a new product for my company. We might use consultants to get us started with Mendix. What are people's experience? Short term vs long term?

The product is similar to a professional consulting network where you can see experts online and ask them questions live (exchanging images and chat etc..)
