About the team

Shoptiques Point of Sale (SPOS) is a new retail point of sale system that provides omnichannel capabilities. SPOS integrates with the main Shoptiques ecommerce platform and provides a host of operational tools to help retail businesses to succeed, including transaction processing, analytics and reporting, inventory management, and more. The POS technology team is responsible for everything related to the POS, including production support, maintenance, and new feature development. The POS product launched in January'18 and went from $0 to $1mm in 4 months, so if you want to join a super fast growing product - join us!

What you'll do

As tech lead (and first POS hire!), you will be a hands-on leader that owns and drives forward the POS technical vision. You will work with implementation and support teams, customers, product managers, designers, and others to understand and define requirements and deliver projects on time. You will be expected to have a strong understanding of customer needs and of retail and e-commerce businesses. This includes:

* Architecting and writing scalable full-stack code. * Performing code reviews and mentoring other engineers. * Testing and deploying production-level code. * Pro-actively identifying and resolving production issues to minimize customer impact. * Helping account management and support teams troubleshoot and fix production issues. * Brainstorming with the product team to ideate new products and features.

Ideal qualifications

* 5+ years creating production-ready, easily readable code in modern languages such as Node.js, PHP, Python, Java, etc. * 2+ years experience with JavaScript and/or Node.js. Experience with the node Express framework is highly desirable. * 3+ years experience with PostgresQL/MySQL or similar database management systems. * Experience leading complex, mission-critical projects * Ability to translate complex product requirements into a simple architecture that allows for fast, iterative feature development and maintainability. * Strong communication & collaboration skills, working cross-functionally to drive project deadlines * BS in Computer Science or similar experience.
