My iPhone Contacts have vanished

Friends, since sunday morning I am unable to view any of my iphone contacts that I have saved in the last two months , some of the contacts which have vanished ,, but with who I had exchanged text Messages are now Showing up as "Maybe: Joseph Freelancer" , this way I have lost many business contacts as they are not showing up in my iCloud too , any help on how to deal with this situation will be much appreciated.

Toggle Contacts in iCloud off and then on again Your contacts have not disappeared, they are just not showing up properly. Try toggling Contacts in iCloud on and then off again to fix it. Here's how to do that.

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and then tap on iCloud. For users who use iOS 11 and later versions (including iOS 11.3), they can find iCloud by going to Settings > Your User Name > iCloud.

Step 2: Find "Contacts" and turn it "ON" if it is "OFF." When asked, tell iCloud to "Replace your Contacts." If it is already turned "On" toggle it "Off" and then "On" again.

Step 3: If asked, select "Delete from My iPhone." Don't worry, your contacts are still in iCloud and they will come right back to your iPhone.

That did not help ,, I logged into iCloud from my macbook to see if they are there and its not there as well !

Can you restore from backup? Most people have their phone backup regularly.

Because I knew it was getting backed up in iCloud every time , i did not bother taking an additional separate back up , I wonder where the contacts could have gone
