The history of Microsoft is little more than an assault on mathematics and the careers of American mathematicians.

The 1976 letter to hobbyists https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Letter_to_Hobbyists by Bill Gates is an attempt to undermine the USA and limit the power of the Bill of Rights.

In particular, the first amendment states,

> Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Bill Gates believes that he has a right to demand an exception to the first amendment, in particular he seeks to deny the right of unauthorized copying to Microsoft customers.

In other words, Gates seeks to abridge freedom of speech in order to increase Microsoft revenue.

This is anti-American. It is a direct assault on the Bill of Rights. It is anti-Constitutional. It is a direct assault on the process that turned the Constitution and the Bill of Rights into founding documents of the USA.

Why on earth hasn't Gates been attacked for launching an assault on the USA in 1976, the 200th anniversary of the USA?

Bill Gates is a punk for insulting the USA and demanding that the laws of the USA be adapted in order to make Gates rich.

He is now a rich punk.

He got rich by demanding that his customers accept his demented interpretation of the laws of the USA.

Bill Gates got rich by using color of law arguments to create the impression that he correctly understood the laws of the USA. These arguments are little more than calling citizens of the USA names such as "thief" or "parasite".

Bill Gates is a schoolyard bully who got rich by breaking the law.

Bill Gates is still a schoolyard bully.

If anyone has a serious bone to pick with MICROS~1, it's Jamie Zawinski. Dude has been wronged by that company in more ways than one.
Just read the Wikipedia - what a story just from the scant pieces! Can you tell more about what MS has done to jwz (other than killing Netscape)?

That aside, the DNA lounge is a great places - I've ended up there for a couple of events/shows, and it has been a positive experience. Never would have guessed that I'd end up on the wiki page for it from a HN link!

I don't know much, but I was referring mainly to Netscape. Microsoft threw every anti-competitive trick in the book to kill Netscape.
As a side note, if Microsoft - according to Mr. Nadella - is to be judged for the recent past, that would mean judging them mainly on:

1) the killing of the Windows Phone platform (which IMHO all in all wasn't that bad)

2) the pushing of Windows 10 (that IMHO all in all is simply terrible)
