Essential Data Analysis Techniques

For those involved in data science, data analytics, predictive analytics, what are the most frequently used / most frequently useful techniques you use on a day-to-day basis?

We hear a lot about the exotic or complex algorithms that are used but my guess is most answers come from the basics.

For me, it is either hierarchical regression, ANOVA or Logistic Regression.
