Ask HN: What do you know about venture developers?

Hello all, I have a pre-seed funded startup and I've been looking for development work that I can afford. I've come across a model that seems attractive. It consists of development companies that give deep discounts as part of a startup incubation program in exchange for a small equity stake (2%-10%). Development is in-house, and they provide assistance with strategy, marketing and seo, and they have a network of investors that they market you to later.

Do any of you know anything about this model? Is it legitimate? Examples include:

To be clear, this is different from the "venture studio" or "startup foundry" model, where they take a controlling interest in a startup.
