Ask HN: Which programming jobs / tasks / projects excite you the most?

I am currently a graduating Computer Science student and to me many of the different fields seem so interesting, that I don't know which direction to go (at least at first).

Which types of work excite you the most in the different fields and why? The types of work performed in fields as embedded systems, (web) servers, algorithms / performance, AI etc.
