Ask HN: How do you effectively communicate between a dev team and stakeholders?

Hi HN,

I've started working a job as the only developer. It's the most senior position I've had, and my employer has given me a lot of trust on how to run everything development wise. They are planning to hire more developers in a year and let me be a senior dev over them if I can perform well.

Communication has been very minimal. It's a mix of emails, phone calls, and Github issues. There is no documentation in place for the current system. When I go through a list of issues, many times there either doesn't appear to be enough information in the issue to resolve it. I will either need ask for more clarification or I need to dig through emails to find out what is being talked about.

Is there an effective workflow to start documenting all the issues, feature requests, and how the business works? I want my communication to be efficient so I can spend more time developing and less time trying to figure out how the business wants things done.
