When an organization grows accustomed to lack of oversight it gets sloppy. Water is wet. More breaking news at 11.
When people become jaded and apathetic, things get worse.
When people obsess over the symptoms instead of the problem the symptoms get treated but the problem never goes away.

There seems to be plenty of appetite for outrage over every misdeed of government but nobody seems interested in figuring out how to change government so it's not making this misdeeds left and right. Every time this happens everyone just wants a rule that says "the government won't do $some_bad_thing_that_the_public_recently_became_aware_of", nobody wants to change the government in a way that results in us not having to play a such an intense game of whack a mole with bad behavior by government.

I am deeply concerned about how the children will be properly reunited with parents. I think DNA tests, or requiring some kind of documentation, would be a very good idea. The last thing we want to do is give a child back to a trafficker, or someone who is not their rightful parent or caregiver.
