Ask HN: How can startups accept payments from users who don't have credit cards?

I'm looking for interesting ways that a startup can accept (non-recurring) payment from users. Greendot and other prepaid cards are an option, but the initial/monthly fees are very high for people who may only be looking to make one purchase. Western Union/MoneyGram are very expensive. Kwedit (PayNearMe) has been discussed here in the past; that seems like one option, but that's limited to 7-Elevens, and it requires customers to have a decent quality printer. Checks and Money Orders require mail and manual processing.

What other options have you seen/used?

Some of the major payment processing companies provide ACH services which would simply require the users' routing and checking account number.

A few years ago I used Cybersource and they provided ACH transfer, I think it was like $.10 per transaction which was much cheaper than CC charges.

Good luck!

PayNearMe will be expanding our partner network beyond 7-Eleven stores, and we'll have a card in stores before the end of the year for consumers who don't have a printer. Thanks for the mention; happy to discuss if you'd like more info. loree@paynearme.com
