Ask HN: Changing typing habits as an adult

1 points by sbilstein ↗ HN
I'm 29 years old and have been programming professionally for years and typing with my bizarre made up style since I was a child. I don't have speed problems as much as I have accuracy problems which can be very annoying when I'm trying to code quickly.

I worry about trying a new typing style getting in the way of my day to day productivity though, especially when I'm under a bit of pressure. Anyone have luck changing their typing habits? Did you just dive into a new style (like language immersion) and come out a few days later a better typer? Or did you practice nights and weekends and then make the switchover?
