Ask HN: How to raise money for proof of concept?

hey guys so I showed a demo to a VC and he's really excited and wants to invest but I'm thinking about shopping around town if you know what I mean.

Problem is I've never really done this it's always been just one off individuals that approach me so I'm looking for a good book or tutorial out there.

Network network network yes I don't mind it but often walk away tired having to listen to so many successful people.
