Ask HN: How this idea for a Dinner Table that sets itself (conveyor dishwasher)

I urgently need to learn embedded systems and I've mostly done web.

The problem: Not having to clean or put away your plates, silverware, and cups. All ideas appreciated.

Looking to build either this week or next, but my current number 1:

G class Model Train set as a conveyor system into a carwash style cleaning system on 1 of the 4 sides of the table. Trying to keep it simple, 1 transistor from arduino to train set, and a few water actuators for the cleaning system. For a moment I considered building my own moter/gearbox/belt conveyor system.

Seems pretty simple, but I'm sure I'll have challenges that will teach me embedded systems.
