Ask HN: When Does SAAS Become Predatory?

As the title suggests, when does it become harmful, the line seems blurry. On one hand the user is getting a service, hopefully a good one, but at what cost. Money is an object, and one that contains a value that is easily quantifiable. A subscription to a software package is not, most of the time you don't even know exactly what you're buying. I'd love to here your thoughts, as I work in this industry it only seems fit I have a clear understanding of the ethics involved.
