Doubling down on this mean either Elon has finally gone completely nuts, or that he has some kind of new-found evidence to support that claim (it's slander if not).
I can't imagine any other reason. Really am hoping it's the 2nd option here, as I am hating seeing the downward spiral (at least PR wise) that Elon is currently located in.
