Ask HN: What steps for planning a new startup?

What planning steps do you take when developing a new startup? This isn't my first rodeo, but it's been a while since I started from scratch and I want to make sure I do things "right" this time. (Lean, clear vision of which hypotheses need to be tested in which order to absolutely minimize time and effort investment, etc.) Essentially looking for tools and frameworks to organize my thoughts. I know BMC is popular but I'm wondering what else is out there I could be missing.
