What to put on lab servers

Dear Hacker News:

Recently at work they told me:

“We are planning to setup a bunch of servers for you guys (devops/dev team) as a small laboratory to play and experiment with new (for us) stuff. Make your wish list.” (Yay!)

One of the restrictions is those can be only Linux and Windows servers and also I suppose there’s some cost and size limit.

We want to play with stuff like git, ansible, docker, kubernetes.

What would you add? Any ideas or tips? Have you done something similar?

I know maybe we can use some cloud offerings for this but right now we can’t use that, that’s why this is going to be setup on the internal network.

Maybe some day we connect this lab to AWS or something similar to help us test connectivity from our internal services to the cloud.
