Honest question, as I don't know much on the subject : why should future sales of weather data be a long way away ? Aren't there already end-users interested in low-volume API access ?
Also, just to clarify, by 'virtual weather station', you only mean devices that run the application, excluding other non-official weather monitoring systems ?
