Interesting, I remember reading about this before and how upset some locals were. On one side it's good to see that money can't buy everything.
Google awareness seems to be very strong in Berlin. We visited last year and saw a lot of materials for this campaign.
This would have been a fantastic opportunity for the Berlin IT scene. But ideological stupidity and extremism have won. Apparently there were threats of violence against Google employees.

I still fail to understand their "points" against having a startup campus on their badly written website: https://fuckoffgoogle.de/#g-entrification They don't seem to know what they are protesting against.

What is so great about Kreuzberg? Every time I have to travel over Kotti I am scared, this place is a shithole.

(The violence threat is only a rumour, I could not find a reliable source)
