Ask HN: Blogging platform for writing about code

I would like to create a blog about code / software development. I want a hosted solution - I don't want to develop my own or host it myself due to lack of time.

It should be possible to insert code examples easily and to insert tables and diagrams. I tried a wordpress.com trial, but it does not seem to be straightforward to insert code examples or tables, possibly because it is not intended for technical writing. I understand WP is pretty customizable if I host it myself, but I really would prefer a hosted solution which allows this out of the box.

I assume there are a lot of technical bloggers on this site. What can you recommend for this purpose?
