Ask HN: What do you look for in a tech conference?

I want to start going to conferences for professional development, but I don't really know what I should be looking for. Does anyone with experience in this have any advice for what sort of things to look for in a conference?

Also, are there any LAMP developers who have found a specific conference to be particularly helpful?
