Ask HN: Building a NAS solution

Hi - doing a bit of background research on the possibility of building our own, open source based NAS (for iSCSI) rather than a commercial offering. Any startups here using the likes of openfiler, FreeNAS etc in a production environment? Or anything else worth looking at?
