Ask HN: What are good software practices for building a GUI to code?

I've been wanting to dabble around building a powerful GUI for creating dynamic interfaces. Although I've experience with building many POCs over the years, I haven't come across any resources (e.g. design patterns, data structures, etc.) that prescribe an appropriate approach for building such applications.
