Ask HN: What if a philanthropy is funded by an unethical person/company?
Let's say I've been offered a job at a philanthropy that does unquestionably good work, potentially benefitting lots of people. However, the philanthropic organization itself is quite publicly funded by and associated with a person/company who is known for amoral and socially destructive behavior.
Should the philanthropist's bad acts have any bearing on the philanthropic organization he/she supports? And, would this affect your [hypothetical] decision to accept a job there?
